There is an increased interest of a healthy life
style and the Siedlce inhabitants are more and more willing to
practise different disciplines of sport and tourism. The two stadiums
of the Municipal Sport Club "Pogoń" provide individuals
the opportunity to participate in athletics and play football.
Other sports can be practised in the gymnasium, tennis courts
or the swimming pool, which is located in Grammar School No 8.
The female Olympic team in weight lifting practise
in the newly completed facility of the Provincial People's Sport
Club. Members of this Club are the leaders in weight lifting and
athletics in Poland.
Amateur basketball, volleyball, rugby, table tennis,
radio-orienteering, orienteering, cross country skiing, judo,
wrestling, kick-boxing and tennis are available in several sports
associations. Today's amateur-sportsmen may be our tomorrow's
medal-winners at the Olympic Games of Poland, Europe or the World.
The Association for the Disabled "Start" organised
the Athletic Championship of Poland for the disabled in Siedlce
in 1998, 1999 and 2000.
The District School Sport Association and Association
of Pupils' Sport Club organise local competitions for students
of the city schools within different sport disciplines every year.
The Association of Promotion of Sports and "Pogoń"
Municipal Sport Club organise the largest public recreational-sport
events in the city. The most significant are the "Dzikie Drużyny"
(Self-organised Teams) Hall Football Tournament of which about
1,500 participants are from the elementary schools; the Siedlce
NBA League with 700 participants; street basketball tournament
Blacktop - 500 people participate; indoor tournaments of table
tennis and tennis.
Many companies' and private fitness clubs, very
well equipped, offer a broad variety of activities to obtain and
maintain good physical condition.
AStanica Wodna facility at the lake is used to organise
summer camps for children.
Visitors and inhabitants of Siedlce staying in the
city during summer holidays can rest at the recreational area
at the lake, which includes the bathing area where the renting
of water craft is available.
